Happy New Year, Honey!

I've tried to be honest,
even brief like a comb
missing a few plastic teeth-

still functional.

It's all about
what you have left
to give, not how

or why.

Sure, I made promises;
I can remember two
or three of them-

I believed.

Too bad you were listening
and God; that's the other
problem with resolutions-

losing them.

So this year, I've decided
to stay simple and focused
like the proverbial deer

in the headlights...
