I was invited
to a party

at a house
by the sea...

every window
a sunset-

a masterpiece
in old frame.

The sand
walked in

without shoes.

I never realized
stars "ring"

like wine glasses
toasting the gifts

of a generous host.

Somewhere,
in the distance-

a grey whale.
